Jesus came to make the love of God known, reaching out to sinners to bring them God’s forgiveness and mercy. He brought the healing love of God to earth, not only in the miracles He worked, but also in the forgiveness He bestowed on sinners, even those who had sinned publicly and thought themselves beyond God’s mercy.

Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.

FIRST CONFESSION/FIRST COMMUNION

Diocesan Policy for Sacramental Preparation Programs:

  • Student MUST have completed a year of formal catechesis before enrolling in the proximate preparation for the Sacraments.
  • Student must be 7 years old before celebrating First Communion.
  • The parish is, without doubt, the most important locus in which the Christian community is formed and expressed . Therefore, the context of Sacramental catechesis is the parish community which means that those who are receiving religious education in the parish faith formation program, the Catholic school, or the home, nevertheless come together for Sacramental preparation.
